so for class we have to watch men, women and children. It was bad. It was panned by critics, and I definitely understand why it was panned. The movie is about like six (I think) different couples basically getting together, and you know, their lives. Their back stories are really important and the love story is between ansen elgort and Kaitlyn Dever. It is like the main love story– even though the whole contents on the movie are really influenced by how people communicate through the Internet (iphones & PC), alongside how everyone interacts with apps on it, and how you know people love each other, and it was sad. The movie was about what happened to Anson Elgort’s character. Basically he starts off as a football star, and then he quits the team after his mom leaves his family, and then he end up like playing a ton of Guild Wars and getting with Kaitlyn Dever’s character, and then he gets really depressed and tries to take too many pills and end up having to go to the hospital and then whole movie ends. That is the main love story, but it doesn’t feel like the main love story because the movie ends on the concept of the pale blue dot by carl sagan. The whole idea is how we all live on this earth and like you know and we all have to love each other (or not), but I don’t know, it was not it, was kind of sad because like basically so it was those characters that it was about a girl named Hannah (who I don’t know her actress) and some other guy in the football team then about Hannah’s mom and the and actually the actor who played Hank in breaking bad so he’s like the dad of Ansel Elgort, then Kaitlyn’s characters mom kind of is always interrupting Kaitlyn’s life and then it’s about another friend of the cheerleader, Hannah and her relationship with like this guy who is really mean to her and then about Hannah’s mom who is with the Hank characters Dad, and then for some reason of Adam Sandler is like friend to Hanks character and so he and his wife, and so basically it’s about how people break up with each other and get together with other people with the use of the internet to talk or cheat, and it’s not a very good movie. It’s not very compelling because Ansel Elgort well, it’s like I feel really annoyed by it because I was just like Adam Sandler’s character and his wife like all I had to do was just just like talk to each other but like Adam Sandler’s character didn’t want to talk to her at all he just kept asking to do things for her and she was like yeah totally I would love to have you do things for me right but like then, they end up both getting on like an infidelity like they could have been coordinating their websites, which is terrible… you know if they were both on Facebook they could find each other but like you know, I guess it doesn’t really work out since facebook is full of “danger,” and neither of their characters talked, so they both cheated on each other. And then the other characters were like you know, the friend of the cheerleader had an ectopic pregnancy, that self aborted after she had unprotected sex with like a footballer, and it was really sad because she was like very clearly extremely thin. She had like an eating disorder like the one that makes her really skinny not like I don’t know if she had like I don’t wanna say she had anorexia, but she definitely was suffering from disordered eating. She got very skinny very quickly and was very sad, and then Hannah tried to go with this footballer, but like he like too much weird porn and so he couldn’t get it up and so she just like told everyone that he slept with her even though it didn’t really make any sense I feel very bad about the whole thing, since it’s obviously like a rumor and those are terrible to go through, and you know then Hank’s character and Hannah’s mom character probably has the only real adult romance getting together which wasnt illicit, but they like basically went out to eat together and stuff and you know he said that she’s like the first person he talk to since his wife left him, which is really rough. I feel like the whole thing was messed up because Ansel Elgort’s character kept getting like people taunting him basically asking him to go join the football team even though he just wanted to play guild wars and you know MMORPG player’s are really toxic, and we say terrible things about each other, and it’s kind of awful. It’s really awful actually and so you know I just felt like loving an a digital age. Just kind of crazy. It’s weird though like as an adult, I actually did end a meeting some of my online friends and a character like that is is like funny and white, but also weird and messed up to me like the digital relationships that you do make the impact the real world
like I don’t know who’s ever going to read this post but like I think it’s cool that such things exist. Hannah’s character, she wanted to be famous, but it ended up being that she had a website and wanted to join a TV show but like because her image wasn’t like wholesome since she did like a couple of photo shoots and sold them for money like she basically was not accepted to be on the show and that’s really rough that she was denied. It was like she’s doing photos for shopping catalog and then her mom said that she did something wrong so the details were never specified. But yeah, the whole movie was OK. It was definitely not worth the budget because there’s a lot of really pretty like beautiful scenes of like Hannah shows character like the whole thing is really, you know it’s like a cinematic movie right but like there’s too much sex and debauchery the movie like they show pornography like 18 different times like sex definitely sells but not in the way the movie wanted to be. you know it was it was definitely panned for a good reason and like you know all the references to the small blue dot were not a good decision making movie like decision-making for the movie and then you know, like I kept thinking about like this like the larger franchises compared to this movie and the reason why this movie did not like get a lot of critical claim and views like it’s not, it’s not like appealing to like you know, a degenerate audience who loves movies it’s just kind of like it feels like it could’ve been better as a biopic, where each character was interviewed about like their time together instead, it was set and like a fiction where everybody was acting out rules as like either being an adult or a kid in a high school and that was not really well done because lot of the characters were not to each other, and like a long-term scale in the in the Iron Man movie like you know a larger franchise like Tony Stark character love Pepper paw for like seven movie straight and everyone really likes that because you know Feng that’s like the OTP like the true pairing makes a lot of sense for them to be together like in this movie, I didn’t feel like way with Angela Algor and you know the main girl being Kaitlyn it just kind of felt not not flat, but like not like the love was a very like deep love between the two of them. I totally relate to her character though, because she biked around and was like on Tumblr and posted like cosplayer for herself, and read the whole movie and honestly honestly me completely agree. I would do that every single day because I did not I do not like peeing on a cheer team or playing football or posting photos of myself or anything like I think I’d probably be like in high school. Basically when I did, I used to read a lot and then I would study and then I occasionally did performances but like mostly I just wrote off index cards and I sang a little bit and I think I was in in the musical ones which I guess it’s pretty extroverted, but like you know my favorite thing to do is to go to library and borrow books and her mom in the movie was incredibly overbearing because she was like he logging Hannah and not not Hannah. She’s clogging Kaitlyn’s character and you know she was like threatening her daughter all the time and the two of them weird relationship where her mom very clearly wanted to keep like extremely close tabs on her daughter was like checking everybody she messaged and stuff I like wonder what happened with her character where her mom felt like she needed to keep like extremely close watch on her daughter because like I would be really I don’t know. I feel like it was. It was a good movie for sure though I just couldn’t imagine living with somebody who wanted to watch every move. I probably freak out I don’t know so I guess we out of all the characters I definitely empathized or like I under her character, the most because I totally really like I really like to go out to bike like really late and going to see your friend who like has problems because like I’m a very I don’t I just I just thought it was pretty cool but also feel really bad for assholes character because he ended up being really really sad after after his mom left and like after basically people who were friends just started like like you know throwing stuff at him, and like basically to him like the teacher said they were bullying him I guess and you know I thought the different ways that each of the characters like the romantic arcs played out in parallel was really interesting because it was one because it was like all about parents who were like involved in the children’s size, but the way that the two moms were involved in their kids like was totally different this Hannah Joe’s. Mom was kind of encouraging her daughter to post not really encouraging but like you know if her daughter was going to post photos like she was watching out to make sure her daughter was safe and I thought that was pretty interesting and cool compared to him compared to Kaitlyn’s character whose mom was like trying to make sure that she didn’t post anything at all and all of her all of her presents was basically like deleted like she really wanted to like completely get her daughter like I don’t know if felt like she didn’t want her daughter on the Internet, but like in a way that is really confusing to me because normally you only like Kellogg people you think or doing something wrong and all that equipment is really expensive but she was just using it to like track her daughter texting like strangers on the Internet and she said to keep her daughter safe but I was just like that wasn’t very good or set up and internally was like they need to like do something interesting like they need to talk that there was no pay over the movie and it was not like that instead it was just like a high school small town fiction and I thought that was not very well done I also thought of the whole guild thing is really funny because I’m really MMORPG and so Algor character and you know Hank Schrader character we’re both trying to figure out track with the MMORPG guild. I was just thinking to myself because they don’t have any good fantasy setting. They have to use the stand like if you ever watch like my dad rings of power, and the whole thing about rings of power is that you know they’re all elves and like fantasy like dudes and like traveling to different lands and stuff and I was like I feel like most fantasy should be like that like like because none of them I have like a deep connection too fantasy. They just ended up using the technology to replace the things that they didn’t have and I thought that was kind of boring like if you ever look at learn of the rings like there’s no screens or phones or or anything because everybody in that movie was actually acting out of the fantasy and I feel like that’s where this movie gets it wrong because like you don’t answer awkward is like one of the main characters in divergent and his character is really cool because he’s basically he basically acts like a guy for like like the main character I don’t remember if it was Jayla I don’t think it was divergent It was like some other actress that’s really famous, but you don’t answer or acting as like somebody who moves the story along is is good I like you can do that being the main character, but he didn’t move the story along in a very compelling way, I think, because all of the side characters didn’t have a very strong report with each other like the only characters who really knew each other super well, were like OK if you if you did like a web it would be no the daughter OK here’s the web Anson Elgort character knows two characters. Maybe yeah it’s awkward. Character only has two important interactions with two characters. His dad’s character and his girlfriend. His girlfriend knows the mom who is married to somebody else and has two kids but those are characters are not irrelevant then Hank, Shrey, for actor plays as dad who knows two characters, Adam Sandler character, and the mom of Hannah Wright, Hannah’s. Mom knows two characters, her daughter and Hanks Schaefer that her daughter knows one character. The cheerleader actually has his character three characters so she’s the most well-connected in the movie she knows her her Hannah knows her mom, her boyfriend and her friend who is anorexic who or who ends up getting with a footballer right so like it’s not very well done because that’s like a really big like it looks like a constellation basically but like not in a good way because I actually the character list is very bad the whole ideas is that your main character knows all of the other characters who support the main character right but like realistically because Ansel Elgort character spends a lot of time on Gilmore. He doesn’t actually ever interact with any of the other characters because his whole art is basically him being sad that his mom loved but like because nobody like ends up, supporting him afterward, he kind of just like gets really depressed and that’s not very good movie . If you really think about all of those different characters, have no real reason to understand or know about an Algor character he’s not like super well defined as himself, and you can really see that in the movie like you don’t divergent, which is the main series that he’s known, for he is actually supporting character to the main to the main character , who is like the divergent and everything and her storyline makes a lot of sense because all the characters that she talks to you like they don’t know, know each other either, but like you know, all of them have something to do with the main character like the other footballers, and Hannah don’t have anything to do with Ansel Elgort and that’s a real problem for the movie he’s not he’s not well-connected enough to anybody else, but like he was still the star of the team? And they were like you know other characters like supporting both that were talking to Ansel Elgort character like there was like a football coach, and like the principal of the school guidance counselor like very clearly he was like a guy reaching out to people for help but like it just didn’t, it didn’t click because he didn’t like have a very strong rapport with any of the other cast besides, Kaitlyn’s character , so it’s hard to really say anything. I feel like the illness is that he have a really serious though like you know there’s not much to. I don’t know like like his mom left him and he’s really sad but his dad was super cool to him. I was like she left both of us buddy like he wasn’t getting any support or sympathy from his dad. His girlfriend had her own problems and none of the other supporting. Cats really understood what was happening to him like all the footballs were just making fun of him and telling him like his main director was to like join the team so he didn’t have anyone he could like really rely off because nobody really understands what is like for parents, so leave like I don’t understand it at all and I feel like because of that like being alone is you know reason that people end up parting themselves the teacher were like I guess professor said that there was a scene where he cut himself I didn’t see that but he did try to overdose, which is not very good for you and you know Kaitlyn’s character goes to come for him and I think that’s really important because like you know self motivation and all that right it just felt like he was definitely on a downward spiral for the whole movie and like there was nothing anyone could really do for him, and that felt terrible .
I think the main thing is that the character didn’t like the movie was not very good at being a comedy. Like all of the punchline were very funny. They set up all the scenes really well, but like the fundamental aspect of comedies that it’s a version of expectations, but they didn’t really subvert my expectations. Well, because when you saw the dad going to the porn site, it’s like oh obviously he would do that. It wasn’t funny because he didn’t expect Adam Sandler to do anything else on his son’s computer if he got 1 million viruses on his computer except go to like a frisky website like if it would be needed if you like went to like you know go shop for his wife like if he did something really girly like that would be very funny but like him just like going to escort site was not good and it’s like the comedy did not play up and it wasn’t enough action and like you know the movie is on action movie it was like a slice of life biopic and I don’t typically watch movies like that because a lot of the times I don’t really paint you know anybody well and the dialogue in the movie was not extremely well done and just have like any features that were really totally memorable and you know it wasn’t like making fun of the wars it wasn’t like showing like cartoon violence and you know all of the couples were fairly consensual, so it was really hard to be like there’s something in this movie that is controversial enough to talk about it wasn’t it was just like another movie and I think that lack of getting into horrific detail really set the movie back because it was dealing with topics that are really really graphic like you saw people naked on screen but you felt that you didn’t feel like you wanted to be there you just kind of felt like it. Why am I watching this when watching it like it wasn’t extremely sexy or anything and I think that just might be my personal preference but like you know like the movie wasn’t like really gripping or narratively well done so it kind of totally understand why it was panned because I feel like that should’ve been panned. I definitely would not not say that that movie was particularly well. Anything like it didn’t have any super memorable lines of none of the characters were very none of the romance were really good. I feel like the love story was actually decent. It was not that, but it was not interesting in like a supernatural way like they were no really good twist in the movie like the rising arc very like you know, followed a good plot, like the plot of Anson Elgort character becoming very sad was really important but he doesn’t die in the movie so there’s nothing to bring everybody together around him and there’s a bunch of different ways they could’ve made them better. Maybe they could’ve totally they could kill his character and that would be great. Everyone would really like that but I don’t know if Albert would necessarily agree to dying on cameras, so it’s not it’s not the same thing they didn’t have a really good villain in the movie. It kind of felt like Adam Sandler was supposed to be like the evil guy, but he wasn’t really evil, so there was nothing for that to really fight against. He said their own problems and then the conflict of the movie was not good. What happened to each character out like standard American stuff you know people like each other and they bang and then you know they are close to each other don’t bang and then it didn’t really go beyond that and that is a serious downplay the movie because the movie needed to go further and what it had to show audiences and you know the whole image like the metaphor out it makes sense if it’s the movie you know no questions they’re obviously they’re on the planet earth and they all feel kind of lonely that checks out. I just was like OK so they’re really lonely and then there’s no one compelling to support in the movie that was like my conclusion. These characters are a cappella enough for me to really be like I think Ansel, Edgar and actual kids on camp like I didn’t ever have a moment I was just like man he’s so depressed this whole movie obviously he needs to go through grief, but it didn’t do a good job, showing him going through grief, and I think that that’s another direction we could’ve taken. Maybe they could’ve been better about showing him being grieved or they could’ve shown like the long-term effects of having friends and wars, and like you know how that makes antisocial weirdo or whatever I mean antisocial weird sometimes I feel like the movie was about love and romance and ultimate kind of fundamentally. There was a ton of infidelity in the movie and like they really really showed it well like they they really like brought you through the stages of infidelity, but like none of the characters argued with each other about it, and that I feel like that minimizing of like your own acknowledgment or desire like a good movie it’s a good life. I would love it if my biggest problem in my life was whether or not the person I liked was going to try to get with somebody else like that’s not a bad motive it’s not entertaining what else? Yeah, the character motivations like they were the characters are good you know they were like real 3-D characters. I didn’t feel like I was watching a flat character I mean maybe some of them could’ve had more dimension. Some of them were definitely very scary typical to like how people act in high school like it didn’t feel like you know there were some if that I was like oh this mom is acting like how you would think overprotected at this cheerleader is acting how you think cheer but act nobody did anything remarkably that made you think that they were like you know had something deeper inside of them like you know the bookworm like to read like that over here typical stuff, so I didn’t have anything going for it for that so like like the make any money in the box office and like after like the first 30 minutes of like being grossed out by all the sex of the movie like I totally understand. I agree like that was just not it’s not funny and it wasn’t very dramatic and I don’t know if there was anyway for them to make the movie better except I like bring in a more and probably main character because he didn’t pull the movie at all. He was not he was not interested up for the movie yeah it’s just because the movie was not. I think part of it is like because of infidelity and like the tragedy of teen romance is not currently in right now, so I don’t know I feel like this movie is not I feel like the time for this movie already actually like this movie could’ve been produced in like the 1980s and really liked it I think like maybe then like you know today if they made this movie the 80s like today people like that was like a really good way to investigate how computers will eventually take over but this is very recent people are live right now they don’t have any great protections in there it’s hard to give any points very attractive major he’s a huge doctor. I don’t know why you know you know yeah I don’t really have anything else to say you know Hannah’s character she was not incredible I feel like maybe if they like you know more or more I could’ve been more fun all in all not even not even like a beat like that movie was like a C minus that probably would not willingly watch a movie again although I think it was really remarkable how much care they put into it like those things are really important and I’m really can’t reflect like the fact that you thought of the actors in the movie producers really cared about their cast and how they presented the world because I think I did really well with that like everything in there I was like yeah like it happened in 21st century day America was really strong but that’s not something that will ever be like an audience or like a critic rating or even everybody moves with each other like that all of that makes sense like I wasn’t like where was his character at this time all of the characters really well explained and bonus to the movie but it’s not what makes a movie good so I don’t know if professor will ever make this. She was like oh send an email to me if you what do you think about the movie if you’re too scared to talk in class but like I’m not gonna send her this 20 page basically like speech to text of the movie I don’t know maybe I’ll just like submit it on Bryce I don’t know if she doesn’t have any brace in the shoes. I don’t know I’m gonna do with this but post it on here hopefully you will not watch the movie because I wouldn’t really recommend it if you want to spend two hours, but I would not recommend it. There are worse ways to spend two hours. 2/5
edit: haha wow i talked a lot for this one; i only edited it half way. The contents of this make sense, but it’s going to take me a bit to read it all.
